Back A Winner

Take All Of Me was set to run at Sandown last Wednesday but due to the weather the meeting was transferred to Geelong. This was of concern to us as she hadn't been tried on the synthetic track and some horses don't handle it. The morning of the race it was decided that we should run and hope that she would handle the track, we knew she was the best horse in the race but the confidence isn't quite as high when they change the venue. As it turned out she won easily and it was a most rewarding win purely because she has had problems along the way. Thank you very much to our patient owners and also to the staff for a job well done.

Rapid Russian Turns It Around

Congratulations to all the owners on Rapid Russians win, it was nice to see him put in and record his 2nd win at Sale on Sunday. He can be frustrating at times but he's always had the ability and hopefully he keeps his mind on the job and can provide some more wins this prep.

Big Odds Again For Double Thunder

Congratulations to all the owners for the win at Kilmore yesterday. It was a great ride by Mark sneaking up on the fence and Double Thunder just wouldn't give in under the big weight. The odds of 12-1 was surprising considering he won at Bendigo 5 starts back and then followed up with a 2nd at Sandown at his next start but we are not complaining. Again well done and hopefully we can enjoy some more wins this prep.

The Girls Celebrate

The weather yesterday wasn't great for golf but the girls in the Ranfurlie Birds Syndicate didn't care because their horse Swanky Baby saluted at Moe. At only her 11th start this was her 2nd win and provided the girls with a trophy that will be on show in the spike bar at Ranfurlie tomorrow. Hopefully the champers doesn't start to flow until they reach the 19th hole.

Sidesplitter breaks through

Last Sunday at Pakenham turned out to be a great day all round. It was a fantastic effort Sidesplitter winning the David Bourke Memorial which was a $30,000 race after being so consistent of late. The win was extra special to Jean as David Bourke and Jeans father were great friends and when Jean first started training David helped her out a great deal, so to win this race was certainly a highlight.

Experienced Apprentice Required

Bruce and Jean this week are heading off to the sales held at Oaklands Junction to see what else they can purchase to add to the stable. Last week in Tasmania they purchased a filly by Canny Lad out of Stop the Show. She's a lovely filly and they are confident the shares currently available in her won't last long. Congratulations to all the owners of Double Thunder who won at Bendigo last Saturday. He's never to far away in his runs and never seems to have much luck so it was lovely to see him win. In our morning track update report we did think that he'd go close to winning so hopefully all his owners took our advice and had a little something on him at the $12.

Jeans work load has increased dramatically since Bruce had to have a shoulder reconstruction due to an accident with a horse. While Bruce's shoulder is all strapped up his job description has changed to stable gopher. He is restricted to lighter duties like attending race meetings and alot more office work as he can't work directly with the horses for 12 weeks. Jean on the other hand has now got to wait on Bruce 24/7, attend to the horses and keep up to date with the books. Luckily she's a super woman otherwise everything would stop, but don't worry as there's only 11 weeks to go but who's counting.
